More snow, less clutter, and some actual progress

Well, winter has started, sorta.

We had some snow this week, and I got up to shovel and salt on Monday morning, even though I thought there was a good chance that it would be melted by afternoon (and it was).

It did stay cold most of the week and thus there were some small patches of snow in spots in the yard well into the week.

Which sucked when I got around to taking back some of the bottles I’ve been keeping bagged on the back patio because taking bottles back is a pain in the ass chore, especially under the new Karenocracy… but it was past due to get rod of some, and I found that the bottle depot is making people do all their sorting outside.

I’d mostly pre-sorted, so it went pretty quickly and I was in and out of there in 20 minutes, but my fingers were numb within the first couple minutes.

The rest of the bottles will wait til after Christmas when there’s a clear day above 10 degrees.

Anyway, in other tidying up news, I’ve rearranged the nook with my writing desk to have a little seating space:

These chairs were in my living room, but with more snow on the forecast for the next two weeks and usually off and on into February, I know I may not always be able to go walking for my exercise, so I’ll organize that space for exercise. I already have my exercise bike in there and some scattered dumbbells, and I’m debating getting a cheap rowing machine as well.

And I cleaned up and cleared off the old clutter from my desk, and then brought in some newer clutter for inspiration:

Hey, it’s “Squeaky Simon That Time He Forgot to Sing ‘Da Da Da Da Da Reflex’ Man-Barbie Doll” as Zamo would call him, and Ginger Babs doing some hard-hitting music journalism. Well… something hard, in any case…
Yours truly in the make-up mirror I use to check whether or not I’m puffing my cheeks when practising clarinet… and then do nothing about it.
Let’s pretend I’m gonna be organized and use a planner in 2022 and actually stick to the planner’s plans.
Another planner I’ll ignore, this one being more of a monthly overview kind.
And Jessica Rabbit, of course.
And the actual workspace part of it.

A couple days later I was at Walmart and found some doll-sized black chairs, er, cell phone holders, so I grabbed a couple and decided to bring out a couple other couples from the web series/show to egg me on with work:

My main character Nick’s soon-to-be-third-ex-wife, Joanne, and her, uh… “personal trainer,” Hans.
The strip club DJ, Pádraig Ó Seachnasaigh, and the studio receptionist Sally’s younger sister Alba, who is almost—but not quite—as rude as Pádraig.

Speaking of the web series, I did get the interview scripts done, so now it’s on to getting the shot lists made and recording the voices so I can then shoot the footage to the right timing and hopefully it won’t be a complete nightmare to edit together.

A couple excerpts, first from Pádraig’s interview:

And then from his theoretical boss Betty’s:

And speaking of shooting footage, I dug out a set of photography softboxes I had from years ago that had been under the stairs at my dad’s house, cleaned them up, and got them set up:

These will be going into the back family room where I’ll be getting my shooting set-up done… once I get around to decluttering that room.

Soon…
